MN INSECT &
WILDLIFE INFO:
Emerald Ash Borer,
What's that?? No, it's not a wood cutting leprechaun, it's an
aggressive non-native insect pest that severely impacts ash tree
species health. This insect slipped into SE Michigan a few years
ago. Now, the sound of chainsaws spells the doom of thousands of
Michigan trees! IF EAB becomes established in Minnesota, we could
face the same loss. Does your woodlot or forest have it??

abundant information on this pest. Visit their website by

New Study Confirms Wood as the
Leading Environmentally Sensitive Building Material for Home
Construction:
A new report
concludes that wood is one of the most environmentally-sensitive
building materials for home construction- it uses less overall
energy than other products, causes fewer air and water impacts and
does a better job of the carbon "sequestration" that can help
address global warming. The study was conducted and prepared by The
Consortium for Research on Renewable Industrial Materials, an
association of leading experts in wood science including MN SAF
member Dr. Jim Bower.
You can read the
report and additional information at the
